Flurbiprofen is a painkiller medication that is prescribed to treat pain, swollen, and aching joint or muscles from arthritis. This is a drug classified as NSAID or a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug.

If a patient is treating a medical condition like arthritis, consult with your doctor first about other alternative non-medicinal treatment for your pain to supplement your medication.

Flurbiprofen is an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) derivative with analgesic and antipyretic action. The oral form of Flurbiprofen can be utilized for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis known as muscle weakness, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Flurbiprofen can also be used as a topical treatment before ocular surgery to avoid intra-operative Miosis in patients. Flurbiprofen is known to be pharmacologically related to ketoprofen, ibuprofen, and fenoprofen.

Like other NSAIA drugs, the effect on inflammation of fenoprofen happens via reversible prevention of the COX or Cyclooxygenase, the enzyme in charge for the conversion of PGG2 or arachidonic acid to prostaglandin G2 and PGH2 or prostaglandin H2 in the synthesis of the prostaglandin. This in effect reduces the concentration of certain prostaglandins that is causing pain, swelling, fever, and inflammation.

Flurbiprofen is a member of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of a phenylalkanoic acid derivative. It is often prescribed for preoperative anti-miotic and as an oral therapy for dental pain, arthritis, and other joint pains.

Flurbiprofen is further used in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The medication is likewise used for pain linked with dysmenorrhea, mild to moderate pain associated with inflammation like soft tissue traumas, tendonitis, and bursitis.
