What is Glucophage SR?

Also known as Metformin, Glucophage SR is a medication that is used in patients with type 2 diabetes. It works alongside a proper diet and exercise program and, on occasions, other medications to control high blood sugar. Doing this helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual function problems.


How Do You Use Glucophage SR?

This medication is taken orally usually once a day with the evening meal. Drink plenty of fluids while taking the medication.


What are the Side Effects of Glucophage SR?

Side effects of the medication may include, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhoea, weakness or a metallic taste in the mouth.


How Does Glucophage SR Work?

The medication works by helping to restore the body’s proper response to the insulin that is naturally produced. While also decreasing the amount of sugar that is made by the liver and that is then absorbed by the stomach/intestines.
