Lyrinel XL is a brand of the drug oxybutynin, a medicine that relaxes and overactive bladder and reduces the need to urinate. It belongs to the group of medications known as anticholinergics or antispasmodics.

Lyrinel is used for the treatment of urge incontinence or increased urinary frequency associated with urgency as may occur in patients with an unstable bladder.

Lyrinel XL tablets are prolonged-release tablets, designed to release the oxybutynin slowly over the day as it passes through the intestines.

Lyrinel is an anticholinergic or antispasmodic. It contains oxybutynin hydrochloride as its active ingredient. It works by relaxing the involuntary muscle that is found in the wall of the bladder.

The detrusor muscle may contract in uncontrollable spasms, resulting in an overactive or unstable bladder. It can increase the frequency of passing urine, gives you uncontrollable urges to urinate, or urinary incontinence.

Oxybutynin relaxes the detrusor muscle, thereby reducing the unstable, involuntary contractions of the bladder leading to an increase in its capacity to hold urine. This, in turn, reduces the need to pass urine.

The main benefit of using Lyrinel tablet is the relief it provides to an overactive bladder. Lyrinel effective relaxes the involuntary muscle at the wall of the bladder, reducing the number of time you need to pass urine, uncontrollable urges to pass urine or involuntary leakage of urine.
